NEW ORLEANS – After a shutout of East Carolina this past Sunday, James Madison women's soccer goalkeeper
Sofia DeCerb earned the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
DeCerb played a key role in the Dukes' 2-0 road victory against ECU, making two saves and recording the second shutout of her career. She also stood strong against 11 corner kicks from the Pirate attack, facing ten shots total for the game.
The redshirt freshman currently ranks fourth in the Sun Belt in saves per game with 4.71 and seventh in save percentage with .750.
JMU returns to action on Sep. 21 when they open conference play against Southern Miss. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
