Happy New Year Dukes!
Â
The start of a new calendar year presents a special time to look back and to look ahead. What a remarkable year my family and I had in 2024 as we arrived and experienced our first fall sports and holiday seasons at home as Dukes. We had much to celebrate with you, highlighted by continued success in the classroom, a women's soccer championship and NCAA appearance, a field hockey regular season title and culminated with JMU's first FBS bowl win in Boca Raton!
Â
As we flip the calendar to more great moments to come in the winter and spring, I want to again thank our student-athletes, coaches, staff and you, our loyal, proud and true supporters, for everything you do for JMU Athletics. Together we have carved a unique spot in the national landscape, and this synergy is the reason I'm so confident that we'll continue to be successful.
 House Settlement
Â
During the fall, our administration worked collaboratively with our head coaches to best position JMU for the anticipated April settlement in the NCAA vs. House case. Our programs are now operating with the understanding of their expected roster numbers moving forward, and we continue to finalize our strategy to creatively and uniquely use our financial resources to maximize and even enhance student-athlete participation opportunities and scholarships. We look forward to sharing these details soon.
Â
Programs across the country have faced challenging questions regarding how they will structure their departments moving forward and what they will emphasize. A hallmark of JMU Athletics over the years has been our emphasis on broad-based programs and striving to equip all 18 teams we sponsor with the infrastructure and resources necessary to compete for championships. I'm excited as we take this next step that we've targeted a path to maintain that emphasis on best positioning all programs for excellence and protecting the positive culture of JMU Athletics.
 Montpelier Collective
Â
As the calendar transitions, we're also excited to continue the evolution of the Montpelier Collective in 2025, one of our pillars of Honors1. Donations to the Montpelier Collective  have halted as we transition the account to be hosted internally at JMU, a move made possible by the anticipated outcome of the House settlement. The board that has managed the collective to this point will stay involved, for which we are grateful, and the new framework of Duke Club priority points also remains intact. If you are interested in continuing to support NIL for our student-athletes please contact a member of the Duke Club at 540-568-6461. More details will be coming soon, but as we continue to work to enhance the student-athlete experience at JMU, we're pleased to transition the Montpelier Collective in this manner.
As we move forward, we will be asking you to continue supporting and elevating the Dukes though your contributions, ticket purchases and more, as we emphasize our people, places and programs. Even more, we ask for your help in recruiting more investors and fans to JMU Nation. There is incredible strength in support and numbers.
Â
As always, thank you for your unflinching commitment to JMU and our student-athletes. You absolutely make a difference in advancing this intercollegiate athletics program and helping position it as the best, most unique one, in the nation. Best wishes to you and your family for a great 2025! I look forward to seeing you inside the Atlantic Union Bank Center as our men and women make a run for March Madness.
Â
Go Dukes!
