NEW ORLEANS – Following a week averaging 19.5 points and 8.0 rebounds,
Peyton McDaniel was named Sun Belt Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
McDaniel earned the honor for the first time this season and the sixth time in her career. The guard opened the weekend with a 16-point outing in a 74-61 comeback win over Liberty on Wednesday evening.
The Birdsboro, Pa. native followed that performance with a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds against Villanova on Sunday. The double-double was her first of the 2025-26 campaign and the 23rd of her career. Her rebounding effort places her 10th in program history with 799 boards, passing Nadine Morgan (1999-2003), who tallied 793 in her career. Additionally, McDaniel moved up the program's scoring ladder, rising to seventh with 1,766, now ahead of Meredith Alexis (2003-07), who totaled 1,760.
Heading into Wednesday's meeting with No. 4 Texas, McDaniel is tied for sixth nationally in total points (98) and tied for seventh in field goals made (35).
