HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison running back Wayne Knight has been named a Second Team All-American all-purpose player by USA Today, Sports Illustrated and On3, as the organizations rolled out their respective 2025 FBS All-America Teams this week.
This is the first career All-America honor for Knight, who has started all 13 games for the Dukes heading into the College Football Playoff.
A Paul Hornung Award finalist and First Team All-Sun Belt selection, Knight ranks third nationally in all-purpose yards per game (147.0), as he's rushed for 1,263 yards and nine touchdowns while making 37 receptions for 379 yards. He's also added 269 return yards on special teams.
The 2025 Sun Belt Football Championship MVP has rushed for over 100 yards on four occasions this season, which includes a career-high 212 yards versus Troy in the championship game.
Knight is also seventh in the FBS in yards per carry, with a Sun Belt-leading 6.65 per rush. He also leads the league with 97.2 rushing yards per game, good for 17th around the country. His 1,911 all-purpose yards rank third in JMU single-season history while his 1,263 rushing yards are the seventh-most in a single season for the Dukes.
The Smyrna, Del., native is JMU's first running back to earn All-America honors at the FBS level, and he's the seventh player to be named Second Team All-American or better since the program's reclassification to the FBS in 2022.
