STATESBORO, Ga. – James Madison men's basketball fell, 96-92, in overtime against Georgia Southern at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center on Saturday night.

Bradley Douglas led JMU (7-6, 0-2 Sun Belt) with a season-high 27 points as five Dukes reached double figures. Despite trailing for most of the game, Georgia Southern (10-5, 2-0) won its seventh straight game on the heels of 25 points from Nakavieon White.

Along with Douglas,
Eddie Ricks III finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds, tallying his second double-double of the season.
Cliff Davis also recorded 16 points, while
Gabe Newhof chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds along with a career-high four blocks.

Aiding in the scoring effort for the Eagles was Spudd Webb, who finished with 22 points and six rebounds. Tyren Moore (16) and Alden Applewhite (15) also finished in double figures.

How It Happened
First Half: James Madison 39, Georgia Southern 37
- JMU hit five of its first 10 shots and held a 16-10 lead with 12 minutes left in the half, controlling the pace early.
- The Dukes grew their lead to 27-15, their biggest of the half, with 7:05 remaining. From that point, Georgia Southern went on a 13-2 run to cut its deficit to 29-28.
- A running layup from Nakavieon White brought Georgia Southern to within two (39-37) as the buzzer sounded.

Second Half: James Madison 80, Georgia Southern 80
- Each team traded runs before a step back from Georgia Southern's Kharyi Dunn tied the score at 52-52 with 12 minutes left.
- A three from Cliff Davis gave JMU a 62-59 lead to break the tie with a little over seven minutes remaining. The Dukes hit five of seven shots to open the lead to 67-63.
- JMU held on to a slim advantage throughout the final minutes, as Douglas scored his 21st and 22nd points of the night on a jumper to make the score 76-72 with 2:15 left.
- After a three-point play from White gave the Eagles an 80-79 lead, Douglas hit a free throw to tie it at 80 and send the game to overtime.

Overtime: Georgia Southern 96, James Madison 92
- Georgia Southern jumped out to an 86-81 lead in the overtime period, but JMU trimmed the deficit to 92-90 on a Douglas layup. Â
- A layup and two free throws from White was enough for Georgia Southern to put the Dukes away.

- Douglas scored in double figures for the ninth time and 20-plus for the fourth time this season, finishing with a season-high 27 points.
