HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison swim & dive split up for the weekend at different invitationals in the Commonwealth, as the swimmers competed Thursday and Friday at the Cavalier Invite while the divers spent the weekend at the Virginia Tech Invitational.
Cavalier Invite – Swimming
- Redshirt senior Jess Pryne and senior Grace Bousum traveled to Charlottesville on Thursday, as they both competed in the prelims of the 200 IM. Pryne swam a time of 2:00.97 while Bousum recorded a time of 2:07.69.
- On Friday, the Dukes competed in the 100 Fly, 100 Back and 100 Breast.
- Pryne was the top prelim time in the 100 Fly for JMU, swimming a time of 55.93. Sophomore Sarah Pauley was the top Duke in the prelims of the 100 Back with a time of 55.37. Bousum notched the top JMU time in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:05.44.
- Senior Suzanne Earnshaw swam a time of 4:34.71 in the prelims of the 400 IM.
Virginia Tech Invitational – Diving
Day One
- Senior Alexa Holloway, junior Natalie Jones and sophomore Kate Vitolo advanced to the finals of the 1-meter board.
- Holloway placed fourth with an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 300.45, while Jones took eighth with a score of 241.95.
- Vitolo placed sixth in the consolation final with a score of 274.95, her third Zone qualifying score of the season.
Day Two
- Four Dukes headed to the finals on the 3-meter board, with Holloway being joined by junior Maddie O'Mera in the championship final and Jones and Vitolo competing in the consolation final.
- O'Mera and Holloway placed seventh and eighth respectively with scores of 267.85 and 254.95
- In the consolation final, Vitolo recorded the top score with a 308.60. Jones placed fifth with a score of 269.85.
Day Three
- Holloway, Jones, O'Mera and freshmen Emma LaFountain and Juliet Wells all competed in the prelims of the platform.
- Holloway had the top score of 178.15, followed by Jones (155.90), LaFountain (150.65), O'Mera (125.80) and Wells (105.80).

The Sun Belt Conference Swimming & Diving Championship will be due up for the Dukes, with the championship taking place on Feb. 19-22 in Orlando, Fla. at the Rosen Aquatic & Fitness Center.
