HARRISONBURG, Va. – Richmond put its first five batters of the game on base and rode the momentum, as James Madison baseball fell, 12-4, on Tuesday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Dukes dropped to 9-16 this season, while the Spiders improved to 21-4.

Senior Coleman Calabrese led the Dukes at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a home run and a stolen base. Senior Jayden Barroqueiro started on the mound and went 1.2 innings, allowing five runs on six hits and a walk.

How It Happened
First Inning
The Spiders led off the game with a double, followed by a combination of three singles and a walk to take a 3-0 lead.

Senior Ryan Dooley got a run back for the Dukes, homering for the first time this season to make it 3-1.

Second Inning
Grant Kennedy hit a solo shot to push the Richmond lead back to three runs, before back-to-back doubles later in the inning made it a 5-1 game.

Third Inning
A three-run homer from Cole Palmeri pushed the Spiders' lead to 8-1.

Fourth Inning
Two runs came home for the Dukes after sophomore Kyle Langley single and freshman Reece Moody followed with a double. A sacrifice fly from sophomore Nic Poole and a single up the middle off the bat of junior Maddux Fleck made the score 8-3.

Sixth Inning
Richmond regained its seven-run lead with a sacrifice fly and a single to make the score 10-3.

Seventh Inning
With two outs, Calabrese cut the deficit for JMU by making the score 10-4 after sending a 1-1 pitch over the center field wall.

Eighth Inning
A groundout and a sacrifice fly knocked in two more for Richmond to make it a 12-4 score.

Game Notes

With the homers from Ryan Dooley and Coleman Calabrese, the Dukes have homered multiple times for the first time in a game.
The three hits for Calabrese are a season-high and his eighth career game of three hits or more.
JMU hit .364 (4-for-11) with two outs.
