Home Finale for Dukes Spoiled by Old Dominion

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison had its home finale of the 2025 season spoiled by Old Dominion, falling, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon in Sun Belt Conference baseball at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Dukes dropped to 15-37 (8-19 SBC) while the Monarchs improved to 21-26 (15-12 SBC).

Senior Ryan Dooley and sophomore Ike Schmidly both had a pair of hits, going 2-for-4 and 2-for-3 respectively. Sophomore Jackson Logar started for the Dukes, throwing his fifth career game of six or more strikeouts as he tossed seven in 4.1 innings. He allowed three runs on four hits.

Old Dominion loaded the bases in the first, using a sacrifice fly to push the first run of the game across.

The Dukes evened the score with their own sacrifice fly with the bases loaded, coming off the bat of junior Wyatt Peifer.

A pair of walks put two runners on for ODU, with a double into the right field corner scoring both for a 3-1 visiting lead.

The Monarchs pushed their lead to three with a sacrifice fly to make the score 4-1.
