NORFOLK, Va. – James Madison took the early match lead with wins in doubles play, but #59 Old Dominion rallied with four straight-set singles victories to down the Dukes, 4-1, in Sun Belt Conference women's tennis action on Tuesday evening at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.

The Monarchs (8-4, 3-0 Sun Belt) extended their win streak to seven straight, while the Dukes (9-9, 0-2 Sun Belt) dropped its third straight match. ODU also extended the series win streak to seven in a row with JMU.

JMU gained the early advantage with a pair of doubles victories.

The team of Brooklyn Hoffmann and Sophie Williams pulled away late from Kira Matushkina and Victoria Matasova for a 6-4 win on court one.

JMU captured the doubles point on court two, where Arial Avidan and Daria Munteanu downed Marina Markina and Uladzislava Manzhos, 6-3, reeling off four straight games for the clinch.

Elsewhere, the team of Anna Kantor and Reka Matko led Ulyana Romanova and Lidiia Rasskouskaia, 5-4, when their court-three match went unfinished.

ODU quickly gained control back in singles play, winning the opening set on all six courts.

The Monarchs tied the match at 1-1 on court one, as Matushkina, ranked #100 in the latest ITA singles rankings, beat Munteanu, 6-1, 6-2. ODU took a 2-1 lead on court five, where Rasskouskaia defeated Williams 6-3, 6-1.

The host's advantage moved to 3-1 on court six, as Markina earned a 6-3, 6-3 win from Kantor. Moments later, ODU clinched the match on court two, where Matasova beat Hoffmann, 6-4, 6-2.

Of the two unfinished matches, Mia Saveljic was down a set but up 5-2 in the second, as she neared forcing a third set.

JMU returns home to Hillside Courts for a pair of matches this weekend, as it hosts East Carolina on Saturday, April 11 at noon, following by Senior Day versus George Mason on Sunday, April 12 at 11 a.m.
