Softball Announces Hiring of Drew Demers as Director of Operations

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison softball has hired Drew Demers as the program's next Director of Operations as announced by Head Coach Loren LaPorte on Wednesday afternoon.

"We're excited to announce Drew Demers as the Director of Operations for JMU Softball," said LaPorte. "Drew brings tremendous passion, energy, and knowledge that will make a huge impact to our program."

"I am incredibly excited to be joining JMU's softball program. I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such a knowledgeable staff and a fantastic group of student-athletes," said Demers. "I'm truly looking forward to helping these athletes reach their full potential and compete at the highest level."

Most recently, Demers served as an Assistant Coach for Team North Carolina (Hinde) in the fall 2025 and summer 2026 seasons. In that role, Demers handled day-of-game logistics, assisted with planning practices and on-field instruction.

Prior to his latest stop, Demers was a student manager for Charlotte softball in the 2023 and 2024 seasons. In his position with the Niners, Demers gained experience in softball operations and data-analytics. Demers tenure with Charlotte was spotlighted by a pair of NCAA Regionals appearances as well as an AAC Championship in 2024.

Demers graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in May of 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
