Program Description:
The JMU Marketing Internship/Practicum program is designed to locate students with an interest in Athletics marketing and properly place them in opportunities that will allow them to gain experience and learn about the field. The sports marketing field is being ever increasingly competitive with suitable candidate from entry-level positions having several years' worth of work experience. With different levels within the program, it will allow students of every age interest, and qualifications the opportunity to gain valuable experience and the opportunity to build their resume.
Fall/Spring Semester Internship:
The undergraduate internship is a semester long internship that allows students to gain extensive experience in the athletics marketing field that meets the requirements of the academic internship course. To be filled by three to five students, the internship will run in each the Fall and Spring semesters. Student will each assist with a major JMU sports program and work closely with a marketing staff member, giving the student a solid background in athletics marketing. Summer Semester Internship:
The undergraduate internship is a summer long internship that allows students to gain extensive experience in the athletics marketing field that meets the requirements of the academic internship course. To be filled by two to three students, the internship will run on either a full-time or part-time basis during the summer based on the needs of the candidates. Students will be exposed to and assist with the marketing and planning of the upcoming collegiate year. Semester Practicum:
The semester practicum is available to a large pool of students that want to gain experience and exposure in working athletics events. The program will be filled with volunteers and can be used to meet practicum course requirement. These students will have the opportunity to work in a marketing capacity for JMU events year-round and put themselves in position for special consideration for the Undergraduate internship. Contact Jake Longenecker (longenjc@jmu.edu), the Director of Fan Engagement.
Social Media/Multimedia Internship or Practicum:
The Social Media/Multimedia Internship or Practicum will work closely with JMU Athletics social media, website, and marketing video initiatives. It works heavily with design, production and creative elements within the JMU Marketing department. Skills with Adobe Photoshop and/or Final Cut (or any video editing software) are preferred. It is a semester long position in the Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters to fulfill course credit. If interested in this practicum please

Event Volunteer:
Event volunteers are used to give students a small glimpse into event marketing. It will serve a recruitment tool for practicum and internship and introducing student to the JMU Marketing Internship Program. Contact Jake Longenecker (longenjc@jmu.edu), the Director of Fan Engagement.Â
