Christian Bourne enters the 2021 season in his first season as the Director of Pitching Development for the Dukes.
In 2021, the Dukes ended with a record of 11-17. Three Dukes were named to the All-CAA teams, with Chase DeLauter earning First and Rookie Team nods and Conor Hartigan and Lliam Grubbs both making it on the Second Team. The Dukes finished second in the CAA in hitting, hitting at a .288 clip with DeLauter earning the batting title with a .386 batting average. Grubbs and Michael Morgan were both named to watch lists for national awards as well.

Bourne returns to his old stomping grounds after the past year as the pitching coach at Mount Juliet High School, located outside of Nashville, Tennessee. Before the CoVID-19 pandemic ended their season, Bourne aided an undefeated Mount Juliet staff to a team ERA of 2.50 and threw a no-hitter in the third game of the season. He helped coached nine players that are committed or signed to play at the collegiate level.

Before going into coaching, the Forest, Va. native wore the JMU uniform as a player from 2016-19. He made 55 appearances on the mound for the Dukes in his career, starting in six games and collecting a save before graduating with a degree in sport and recreation management.

He currently resides in Bridgewater, Va. with his wife, Lindsay.
