- Started and played in all but one game, leading the Dukes with 66 hits and 12 doubles
- Put up the best slash line of his career at .330/.404/.520 (AVG/OBP/SLG)
- Hit eight home runs with 27 RBIs and 46 runs scored
- 3-4 with three runs in the 11-3 win over No. 11 Coastal Carolina, the reigning national champion [2/19]
- 5-7 with a home run, two walks, three runs and an RBI across a doubleheader sweep of Coppin State [3/10]
- 3-5 with a double, a home run, two runs and three RBIs in a 20-6 win over NJIT [3/17]
- During a six-game span from April 22-May 7, McPherson exploded with a .483 average (14-for-29), 10 runs, 10 RBIs, four doubles and four homers
2016 as a sophomore:

- Led the Dukes with 43 RBI and 207 at-bats
- In 54 appearances (51 starts) McPherson collected a .295 batting average, .353 on-base percentage and .454 slugging percentage
- Third on the team with five home runs
- Tallied 61 hits, including 12 doubles and three triples, 41 runs, 20 walks and nine stolen bases
- Opened the season by going 2-for-3 with two walks, a home run, two RBI and three runs in a 9-3 win over Bucknell [2/19]
- 4-for-4 with a double and a walk for two RBI and three runs in a 12-8 win over VMI [3/8]
- 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and two RBI in a 13-10 win over Elon [4/29]
- Scored four runs in an 11-7 win over UNCW [5/15]
