Jack Sprague was hired as the Associate Director of Athletic Performance with the James Madison football program in January 2025.
Sprague joins JMU football after spending nearly a year and the 2024 season at Duke, where he was assistant director of sports performance for football. While with the Blue Devils, he worked regularly with the defensive backs, wide receivers and quarterbacks while overseeing the Perch Velocity Based Training data and reports.
Prior to Duke, Sprague spent five seasons at Florida International (2019-23), where he held roles as both an assistant strength & conditioning coach and associate director of strength & conditioning. After three seasons as an assistant, he was promoted to his associate director role for the final two. In addition to working with the quarterbacks, he also spent time overseeing men’s basketball and women’s tennis.
He also had stops at The Citadel, Villanova, Athletic Evolution, Holy Cross, Assumption College and Worcester State. He rejoins both Chesney and Chris Grautski, who he worked with as a strength & conditioning intern at Assumption from 2015-16.
Sprague graduated from Worcester State in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in health education.
