Nicky Kuzemka is in his first season with the James Madison football program in 2025, as he serves as a defensive graduate assistant.
Kuzemka joined the Dukes after spending the 2024 season at his alma mater, Furman, as a defensive quality control coach with the linebackers.
In his one season coaching the Paladins, he mentored Evan DiMaggio to Third Team FCS All-America and First Team All-Southern Conference status.
A linebacker himself, Kuzemka spent five seasons at Furman (2019-23) where he played in 45 career games while contributing 110 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception and a fumble recovery. Kuzemka, who helped Furman to a pair of FCS playoff appearances and a 2023 Southern Conference title, was a four-time SoCon Academic Honor Roll selection and was named to the All-Freshman Team. He was also twice honored on the Collegiate Sports Communicators Academic All-District Football Team.
A native of Clifton, Va., Kuzemka earned his bachelor’s degree from Furman in communication studies with an emphasis in rhetoric advocacy.
