Pete Davila is in his first year as the safeties coach with the James Madison University football program.
Davila spent the past three seasons at Otterbein University, the last two as the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach. During his first year there in 2012, he was a defensive graduate assistant. Prior to his time at Otterbein, he was the inside linebackers coach at Capital University.Â
Davila received the National Football League’s Bill Walsh Minority Internship during the summers of 2013 and 2014. In 2013, he interned with the Minnesota Vikings, followed by a stint in 2014 with the Houston Texans.Â
He spent time in the high school ranks, coaching at Shaw High School and Richmond Heights High School in Cleveland, Ohio. In his first job after graduation, he was an outsider linebackers coach at Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C.
A native of Miami, Fla., Davila attended Youngstown State, where he was a defensive back and linebacker. He was a member of the 1994 and 1997 National Championship teams and graduated with a degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing management.Â
Davila and his wife, Emily, have two daughters, Gabriella and Kylie. Â
