Scott Cook joined the James Madison University Sports Medicine Department Staff as an Associate Athletic Trainer in June of 2003. He currently serves as the head athletic trainer for the James Madison Dukes football team.
Prior to accepting his position at JMU, Cook served as the assistant athletic trainer for the University of Illinois football team from 1999-2003. There he served as the football rehabilitation coordinator and athletic trainer for the men's and women's golf teams. He was also a guest lecturer in the University of Illinois CAAHEP accredited Athletic Training Education Program.
Prior to his appointment at the University of Illinois, Cook served as an assistant athletic trainer for six years at the University of Notre Dame. There his primary responsibilities were with the men's soccer and lacrosse programs.
He received is undergraduate degree in athletic training and secondary science education from West Virginia University in 1991. He then earned a Master of Education Administration from Purdue University in 1993. Scott is nationally certified by the Board of Certification and is a licensed athletic trainer by the Virginia Board of Medicine. He also holds advanced certifications as an Emergency Medical Technician.
Cook and his wife Jini reside in Harrisonburg, with their daughter Peyton and son Wyatt.
