Terron Carey is in his first season with the James Madison football program in 2026, as he serves as an offensive intern with the offensive line.

Carey joins the Dukes after spending the 2025 as assistant offensive line coach at West Georgia. While at UWG, he supported the offensive line development in a spread, run-heavy offense. He helped the team improve its rushing average from 2024 to 2025 by 20 yards a game, at 167.0 per game. He additionally coordinated scout team operations, including daily opponent meetings and scout cards for red zone/goal line, third down and BPU.

West Georgia finished with an 8-3 record, winning its final three games in its first season reclassifying from Division II to the NCAA Division I FCS.

His first coaching role occurred in 2024 at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. At SLU, he oversaw development of the running backs within an air raid scheme while collaborating with the offensive line to specialize the run game.

Prior to his coaching career, Carey was a three-year starting center at Idaho State, where he played from 2018 to 2022. At ISU, he was a two-time All-Big Sky selection, earning Second Team honors in 2020-21 and Third Team in 2021. He also played his final season in 2023 at Northern Arizona, starting at guard.

While a student-athlete at ISU, he also worked summer prospect camps, serving as a player assistant offensive line coach.

Carey graduated from Idaho State in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in public relations.
