Newcity will be entering his second year as volunteer assistant coach. Newcity joined the men's soccer staff in the fall of 2016.
He had previously played for the Dukes as a goalkeeper from 2011-13. During the 2011 season he recorded four shutouts, a .744 save percentage and a 0.87 goals-against average, all top-six marks in the Colonial Athletic Association. He was honored with the CAA Commissioner's Academic Award twice and as a JMU Athletics Director Scholar Athlete three times.
A Harrisonburg, Va., native, Newcity played both varsity soccer and football for the Harrisonburg High School Blue Streaks.
