Assistant coach Kama Tucker joined the Dukes' staff in July of 2009.
Tucker came to JMU from Greensboro College where she was the head coach for five years.
Tucker compiled a 144-94-4 career record as head coach of Greensboro College and in 2005 she was named the USA South's Coach of the Year after leading her team to a 24-14 season. She has coached 38 all-conference players, two CoSIDA regional academic team honorees and the program's first conference player of the year in 2006 and rookie of the year in 2009.
In 2009, Tucker lead the Pride to a 20-18 record, including a 13-4 mark in the USA South. The squad won 20 or more games in five-straight seasons under Tucker, including 2007 when it set a program record by going 32-10. That year, GC climbed defeated top ranked Muskingum College and received its first-ever national ranking. Greensboro remained in the NFCA Division III poll for three weeks, climbing as high as 10th.
Prior to working at Greensboro College, Tucker was an assistant coach at Peace College in Raleigh, N.C. where she served for three years. She was primarily responsible for the pitchiing, catching and offense.
Tucker will work primarily with pitchers, catchers and outfielders at JMU.
Tucker holds bachelor degrees in both psychology and religion from Barton College. She played softball for four years and volleyball for two for the Bulldogs.
