Tiffany Brutus is an assistant director of student-athlete services, who works with women’s basketball, cross country, swimming and diving and track and field. She provides academic advising and counseling as it relates to study skills, time management, course selection, registration procedures, degree requirements, career planning, university resources, and overall academic performance towards graduation while also monitoring NCAA eligibility. Tiffany has also served as an academic advisor for the following JMU teams; archery, men’s cross country, fencing, men’s golf, men’s soccer, men’s tennis men’s track & field, and wrestling.
From 2006-2015, Brutus was the director of student athlete affairs at JMU; where she managed an academic advising case load of multiple teams while also coordinating and implementing leadership programs (Dukes B.A.L.L.), student-athlete orientation (Rookie Symposium), NCAA life skills programming for all JMU student-athletes and served as the advisor to SAAC.
Brutus graduated from JMU in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in health sciences and received a Master of Science in 2006 in health science with a concentration in public health education. She earned a college student personnel administration post master’s certificate in 2010 and is also a NCHEC certified health education specialist (CHES®). She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Leadership and Organizational Science through JMU’s School of Strategic Leadership.
As an undergraduate, Tiffany (Hall) Brutus competed for the track and field program. She was a four-time CAA Champion in the 400 meter hurdles and still ranks in the top 10 at JMU for the indoor 400-meter dash, 500-meter run, 4x400 meter relay, outdoor 400-meter dash, 400-meter hurdle and Sprint Medley relay.
Brutus is very active within the JMU campus community and has served in many capacities through the JMU employee advisory committee, university planning team, compensation advisory council, diversity and inclusion taskforce, JMU dukes step up coalition, green dot committee and facilitator, JMU athletic gender equity committee, JMU athletics diversity and inclusion council. She is also a JMU civic learning mentor.
