Robbie Ormsby currently serves as the associate director for strength and conditioning with his primary responsibilities being baseball, women’s soccer, volleyball and cheerleading.
Prior to JMU, Ormsby was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Appalachian State for seven years, where he worked with numerous sports including football, baseball, basketball, softball, volleyball, field hockey, soccer, and wrestling. During his time at Appalachian State, he was a part of ten Southern Conference championships (football, softball, baseball, wrestling, and basketball) including 2 FCS national championships in football. He then took a strength and conditioning job for Integration Sports Science Academy in 2014 before coming to JMU. There, Ormsby worked with professional baseball (Chinese professional baseball league) and tennis. He also assisted with university level baseball, rugby, and track and field (National Taichung University for physical education and sport/NTUPES).
Ormsby has mulitple certifications including NSCA-CSCS and USAW Level 1.
He graduated from Appalachian State University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in physical education and then went on to receive a Master of Science in exercise science in 2007.
Ormsby resides in Harrisonburg with his wife, Amanda, and their daughter, Elin. In his spare time he is a competitive weighlifter.
