Leah Schoen joined the sports medicine staff at JMU as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in August of 2013. Schoen is currently responsible for the day-to-day care of the women's soccer program as well as serving as an approved clinical preceptor for JMU's nationally-recognized athletic training education program. She came to JMU with over six years of experience working with the highly competitive women’s soccer program at the University of Central Florida.
Schoen completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Florida in 2006. While at Florida, she majored in exercise and sport sciences with a specialization in athletic training. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree, she worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at UCF, working primarily with their women’s soccer team. Following her graduation from UCF in 2009, Schoen was hired as an assistant athletic trainer at UCF, continuing her work with their nationally-ranked women’s soccer program.
Schoen is nationally certified by the Board of Certification and is a licensed athletic trainer by the Virginia Board of Medicine. She is a certified CPR/AED instructor with the American Red Cross. She also is a member of the U.S. Soccer National Team Athletic Trainer Pool.  Â
