Nate Lewis is in his first season with the James Madison football program in 2026, as he serves as a football operations intern.

Lewis joins the Dukes after two seasons at his alma mater Grand Valley State in Michigan, where he was director of football operations, as well as the program’s pro liaison for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

During his time with the Lakers, Lewis managed day-to-day operations of the football program including travel logistics, scheduling and budget planning. He also oversaw player housing, meals and academics in addition to tasks related to game day operations, team tickets, recruiting visits, facilities and student assistant workers. Lewis was also the liaison between NIL collective and the student-athletes.

In his role as pro liaison, Lewis was GVSU’s main point of contact between the program and NFL scouts. He coordinated, scheduled and planned Pro Day for the entire Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference to include both NFL and CFL scouts.

Prior to his role as director of operations, Lewis was video coordinator as an undergraduate student between March 2022 and June 2024. In that position, he uploaded and broke down practice and game film through DVSport while also helping with all game day operations and recruiting visits and photoshoots.

Lewis began his football career at Forest Hills Eastern High School in Ada, Mich., where he was game day operations manager from 2018 to 2024.

From Sept. 2017 to Jan. 2025, Lewis was a Hospital Corpsman Second Class in the United State Navy in Lansing, Mich, where he maintained health record for Marine Corps Company and performed both emergency and routine medical procedures in high-pressure environments.

Lewis graduated from Grand Valley State in December 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in movement science: sport management. He additionally received a certificate in sport coaching.
