Head Coach Marlin Ikenberry announced on October 7, 2025 that Ryan Dooley will be joining the James Madison baseball coaching staff as Director of Player Development.
Dooley joins the staff after finishing his playing career with the Dukes in 2025. During his career, Dooley played in 178 games with 159 starts. He compiled a batting average of .288 to go along with an OPS of .826, as he connected on 170 hits. Of those hits, he recorded 43 doubles, 3 triples and 14 home runs. In addition, he scored 113 runs across his four years and recorded 94 RBIs.
To begin his career, Dooley earned All-CAA First Team and All-Rookie Team nods after finishing with a slash line of .305/.419/.526 in 38 games with four home runs, nine doubles, 12 RBIs, and 15 runs scored. Two seasons later, Dooley was an integral part of the first regional appearance for the program since 2011 as the Dukes earned an at-large bid en route to the Raleigh Regional Final. He finished that year with a .303 average in 61 games and set career-highs in at-bats (231), hits (70), runs scored (51), RBIs (44), doubles (17), stolen bases (14) and home runs (five).
The former outfielder earned his bachelor's degree in sport and recreation management in 2024.
