Playing for legendary JMU coach and Hall of Famer Lou Campanelli, Fisher was part of three NCAA Division I Tournament teams, including teams that beat Georgetown (1981), Ohio State (1982) and West Virginia (1983). In his career, the Dukes were an impressive 83-34 overall, winning two Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Tournament titles his twice (1981, 1983) while he compiled more than 1,000 career points in the pre-three pointer era. Fisher was named the 1981 ECAC South Tournament MVP and to the All-Tournament team after leading the Dukes to their first NCAA Division I Tournament appearance and played the most minutes of anyone on the squad and ranked third in scoring that year. He was also JMU's assist leader his senior year with 89. In his career, Fisher ranks second in single-season free throw percentage (91.3, 1983), fifth in career free-throw percentage (82.0), sixth in career steals (126) and ninth in career minutes (3,257).
