Walker was the CAA's Outstanding Swimmer at the championship meet in both 1992 and 1993, giving her the distinction of being the only JMU student-athlete to earn the honor. She was also named the league's Swimmer of the Year in 1993. She earned the highest possible point total at the CAA meet by capturing first in each of her events. Walker led the Dukes to the CAA Championship in 1993 and a runner-up finish in each of her first three seasons. She earned 14 CAA gold medals, including three-times in the 50-yard freestyle, twice in the 100 free, once in the 100 butterfly, three times in the 200-yard freestyle relay, three times in the 400-yard freestyle relay and once each in the 200 and 400 medley relays. At one time, she held eight JMU and seven CAA event records, including the JMU 100 fly mark that stood for 17 years.
