A four-year starter for the Dukes and a two-time All-American, Kelly Berger helped lead the JMU women's lacrosse team to two CAA Championships and two NCAA appearances during her career (2004-07). She is currently a member of the 2017 US Women's National Team Roster, having previously won a world championship with US Lacrosse in 2009.
As a freshman, she ranked third on the team in goals and points and second in game-winning goals, and received the team's Rookie of the Year award. She was then named either MVP or co-MVP each year during her sophomore through senior seasons. As a junior in 2006, she received First Team honors IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-America, VaSID, All-South and the CAA, and was also named the CAA Player of the Year. As a senior she was again named to the CAA and the VaSID First Teams. Following her graduation, she was selected to participate in the August 2007 tryouts for the US developmental and elite teams.
Berger played in 73 games during her JMU career, racking up 184 goals and 78 assists for 262 total points. She ranks second in JMU history in career goals (184), second in career points (262) and third in career assists (78). Her 59 goals as a junior rank third in Dukes history while her 93 points rank second.
