RADFORD, Va. (12/11/1999) – Correy Watkins' follow-up field goal with 0.8 seconds to play gave Radford the 69-67 non-conference victory.
Jamar Perry pulled JMU into a 67-67 tie by hitting on one of two free throws with 30 seconds to play, and Radford worked the ball until missing a shot that Watkins rebounded from the weak side and easily put into the basket.
JMU had a 39-37 halftime advantage, but Radford led for most of the second half behind Jason Williams' 13 points. Williams had 22 points overall and eight during the final five minutes, including a three-pointer that gave the Highlanders a 67-66 edge with 1:04 remaining.
The game had 10 ties and 17 lead changes. JMU, which led 19-9 midway through the first half, trailed 46-41 early during the final half and 64-60 with 3:33 to play before scoring six straight points. Field goals by

David Fanning pulled JMU into a 64-64 tie with 2:24 left, and Perry's jumper from the left corner with 1:26 to play gave the Dukes their last lead, 66-64.
Perry had 19 points and Outtz 18 for JMU, which shot 45.6 percent (26-57). Radford shot only 41 percent (25-61) but had eight three-point field goals, including four by Williams. JMU had five three-pointers, and the Dukes had a 38-35 rebounding advantage.
