RICHMOND, Va. (3/4/2000) – JMU's four seniors combined for 64 points, and the Dukes pulled away late during the first half and beat William & Mary 84-73 in the Colonial Athletic Association quarterfinals at the Richmond Coliseum.
Jabari Outtz had 27 points, four rebounds, seven assists, three steals and only two turnovers in 37 minutes to lead the Dukes. He had 15 points during the final eight minutes of the first half and hit on four of six three-point shots overall.
Rob Strickland added 13 points and 10 rebounds,
Kevan Johnson 12 points and four rebounds off the bench, and
Jamar Perry 12 points and five rebounds.
JMU trailed 23-22 with seven minutes left in the first half but outscored William & Mary 25-11 to lead 47-34 at halftime. The lead reached 61-42 with 12 minutes left.
JMU shot 50.0 percent overall from the field (27-54), 50.0 percent from three-point range (8-16) and 75.9 percent from the foul line (22-29).
Jim Moran had 22 points and Cody Carbaugh 14 for William & Mary.
