WASHINGTON D.C., Sept. 22, 2005 —James Madison used a balanced scoring attack, including four goals from four different scorers, to topple Howard, 4-0 in a non-conference men's soccer match at Greene Stadium.
Â
The Dukes (4-2-1) were led by juniors Kurt Morsink (San Jose, Costa Rica/IMG) and Andrew Walker (Virginia Beach, Va/First Colonial), who each tallied a goal and an assist.
The Bison (0-5-0) remain scoreless on the season. JMU's passing skills and ball control allowed it to dominate the possession throughout the match. Howard relied on numerous aerial balls played into the Dukes' half of the field, but its attempts were often cleared away by central defenders, Mike Tuddenham (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) and Danny Sheridan (Washington, D. C./Gonzaga). After goals in the 10th and 20th minutes, Walker's scorching drive from 25 yards out put JMU up, 3-0 in the 24th minute and all but sealed the deal for the Dukes.
James Madison next travels to Towson, Md., to face Towson University in a conference match-up on September 30th at 3 p.m.
