NORFOLK, Va., April 1, 2006 — Old Dominion ran its winning streak to 17 in a row and sent James Madison to its fourth straight defeat with an 8-4 final Saturday evening in Colonial Athletic Association baseball at the Bud Metheny Complex.Â
The first-place Monarchs opened up a two-game lead on the Dukes, improving to 11-0 in the CAA and to 28-3 overall. The Dukes slipped to 19-9 overall and to 9-2 in the league.
Junior right-hander Jason Godin (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) scattered six hits and fanned 10 with just two walks in eight innings of work to remain undefeated at 7-0. Godin retired 10 straight JMU batters and allowed just one baserunner in the fifth through eighth innings.

Junior left fielder Mike Zahm (Omaha, Neb./Iowa Western C.C.), senior third baseman Justin Gregula (Washington, Pa./Washington) and senior right fielder Keith Hahn (Valley Stream, N.Y./Archbishop Malloy) each had three hits on the day for ODU. Zahm and redshirt senior first baseman Dana Arrowood (Woodbridge, Va./Hylton) knocked in two runs each for the Monarchs.
Zahm singled up the middle in the first to score sophomore second baseman Chris Keenan (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge). He later scored on Gregula's single.
The Dukes got on the board in the second as senior designated hitter Matt Sluder (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) singled home redshirt junior catcher Dan Santobianco (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine), who had walked and moved to second on the first of two singles by senior right fielder Matt Bristow (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin).
In the second, Zahm's two-out single brought Hahn home to give the Monarchs a 3-1 advantage.Â
The Dukes chipped back as senior first baseman Nate Schill (Audubon, N.J./Audubon) singled home sophomore center fielder Kellen Kulbacki (Hershey, Pa./Hershey). Kulbacki had doubled to right, extending his hitting streak to 24 games.

In the ODU fourth with two outs, Zahm put down a bunt single, before Arrowood slammed his third homer of the season. ODU finished its scoring in the fifth as Hahn doubled home Gregula, then later scored on a wild pitch.
The Dukes scored two runs off ODU junior reliever Hunter Hall (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) in the ninth. Sluder doubled home junior third baseman Rob Altieri (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Christian Catholic) who reached on an error. Junior shortstop Davis Stoneburner's (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) sacrifice fly plated Bristow.
