FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., .Oct. 13, 2007 -- James Madison senior Dena Spickard (Marion, Va./Marion) led the Dukes' cross country team Saturday with a 51st-place finish at the Chile Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas.

She completed the 6,000-meter race in a time of 22 minutes, 17.7 seconds.

The event, which attracted 41 teams and 322 runners, was won by Texas Tech. The Aggies narrowly beat meet host Arkansas, the country's ninth-ranked team, 83-87. In third place was Virginia Tech (130). JMU finished 10th in the team competition with 337 points.
