NEW YORK, N.Y., Nov. 17, 2007 -- James Madison sophomore Alison Parris (Saint Leonard, Md./Patuxent) ) was the top finisher for the Dukes' cross country team at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships Saturday.
She covered the 5,000-meter course at Van Cortlandt Park in 18 minutes, 30 seconds and placed 18th among the 95 runners who completed the race.
Villanova runners finished one-two in the race with Callie Hogan the winner in 17:48 and Akilah Vargas taking second in 17:56.The pair helped their team capture the ECAC team title.Villanova finished with 43 points and William and Mary was second with 58.
JMU placed sixth among 12 teams in the team standings.
Other top-50 finishers for the Dukes included senior MichelleBeardmore (Front Royal, Va./Warren County), 32nd in 18:50; junior AspenFoster (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox), 42nd in 19:09; sophomore Brittany Lussier (Stafford, Va./North Stafford), 45th in 19:16; and senior DenaSpickard (Marion, Va./Marion). 47th in 19:20.
The remaining Dukes' competitors included sophomore Emily Hellmuth (Arlington, Va./Yorktown), 54th in 19:29; junior >
