EARLYSVILLE, Va., Nov. 3, 2007 -- James Madison junior Caitlin O'Malley (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) was the Dukes' top finisher at the Cavalier Open Cross Country Meet hosted by the University of Virginia at Panorama Farms Saturday morning.
O'Malley placed 16th among collegiate runners as she completed the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes, 31.9 seconds. It was her fastest 5k cross country meet ever, beating her previous best of 20:06 by more than 30 seconds.
Dawn Cromer, running for Brooks, finished first in 18:05.6. She finished more than 30 seconds ahead of Emily Schroeder of William and Mary, who was timed in 18:36.7
Other JMU finishers included sophomore Lynne Colombo (Marlborough, Conn./RHAM), 18th among collegians in 19:51.5; sophomore Holly Fredericksen (Yorktown, Va./Tabb), 24th in 20:21.9; freshman Kelly Jemison (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac), 25th in 20:27.5; and sophomore Ashley Leberfinger
