The Dukes struck first when Julia Dominguez (Sterling, Va./Park View) reached first on an error by the shortstop and allowed Brittney Lyddane (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park) to score.
The Dukes held their 1-0 lead until the bottom of the fifth inning when Ashley Parker tripled to left center, scoring Leah Legler and tying the game at 1-1.
The game remained tied through seven innings and the Dukes came up to bat at the top of the eighth.
Katie George (Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood) was placed on second and reached third on a sacrifice bunt by Lyddane.
Texas Tech brought in pitcher Ashley Jacobs who forced a ground out to second. Jacobs loaded the bases with two straight walks before striking out the last batter for JMU and giving the Red Raiders the victory.
Jenny Clohan (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) pitched the entire game for the Dukes giving up two runs, with one earned, on six hits, and striking out five.
The Dukes will conclude the Florida Atlantic Tournament tomorrow Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. against an opponent yet to be named. The game will be available on game tracker at FAU sports.com
