Steven Caseres (New City, N.Y./St. Joseph Regional) appeared to pop up to end the inning, but Dunn was called for a balk on the pitch, moving Garner to second and continuing the inning. Hofstra had back-to-back singles to lead off the second. Panzarella was retired at third on the front end of a double steal attempt. After Patrick Rogers (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach) was hit by a pitch, George Carroll (Bayside, N.Y./Holy Cross) doubled just past the diving Lake at third into left field for an RBI. Two more runs came in on a double to the gap in right center by Campana.
A single by Kougasian and a single by freshman Matt Prokopowicz (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) where he advanced to second on the throw set up second and third with nobody out for Hofstra. Panzarella singled to bring in one run. Mentrasti then walked on four pitches to load the bases. Lake made a diving stop to retire the first runner at home, and fielded another fielder's choice for the second out at home. Campana reached on an infield single to score another Hofstra run, but Stoneburner caught Rogers off the base at third for a rundown to end the inning.
