Panthersville, Ga., April 28, 2007 ? Georgia State University tallied 25 hits, one shy of the school record, to defeat James Madison University 20-6 in the second game of a Colonial Athletic Association series on Saturday afternoon at the Field at Panthersville.
GSU improved to 21-23 overall and 10-10 in the CAA. The Panthers evened up the weekend series and snapped a four-game losing streak. JMU fell to 18-26 overall and 8-13 in conference and had its four-game winning streak halted.
The 20 runs scored by GSU were just two shy of the school record set against Virginia Tech in 1980. The 25 hits surrendered by the JMU staff were a school record. It was the first time the Dukes allowed 20 runs for the first time since surrendering 21 to Towson in March of 2005.
Much of the damage was done by the top of the lineup as senior Eric Suttle (Marietta, Ga./The Walker School) and junior Jean-Michel Rochon-Salvas had 10 of the 25 hits. Suttle had two singles, two doubles, a triple, a walk, four RBIs, and five runs scored. Rochon-Salvas had three singles, two doubles, two RBIs, and three runs.

Three freshman combined to lead the way offensively for the Dukes, who lost despite tying for their second-highest hit output of the season with 17 while only piecing together six runs.

Matt Browning (Mystic, Conn./Fitch) had three hits, including two doubles, one run, and an RBI. Redshirt freshman

An RBI single by Van Horn made it 2-0. With the bases loaded, Childers doubled off the wall in center to drive in a pair of runs, but freshman
Alex Foltz (Mathias, W.Va./East Hardy) was able to throw out the runner from first at the plate for the second out. The fifth run of the inning came in on a balk by Hoffman.
The Panthers came right back with consecutive base hits, capped by a Rochon-Salvas RBI double for a 6-0 GSU lead.
