BALTIMORE, Md., Jan. 24, 2009 ? James Madison split a double dual swimming and diving meet on Saturday, defeating host Loyola 218-91 and falling to Towson 188-112 at Loyola's Fitness and Aquatic Center.
JMU stands at 7-3 for the season and 3-3 in the Colonial Athletic Association with the non-conference win and conference loss.
The Dukes picked up five first-place finishes, giving each winner a pair of dual victories. Sophomore diver Jessica Everett (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) earned an impressive win in the three-meter dive with a mark of 293.75. Her score was 25 points better than her previous personal best and just shy of the school record of 295.65.
JMU made it a sweep of the diving events with freshman Nicole Jotso (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) winning with a mark of 261.95. Everett was second on the one-meter board with a score of 255.80.
Junior sprinter P.J. Naber (Chantilly, Va./Chantilly) earned a pair of wins, claiming the 50 free in 24.39 seconds and nailing the 200 free in 1:54.93.
Sophomore Jackie Hartman (Williamsburg, Va./Bruton) picked up JMU's other double win with a time of 4:32.81 in the 400 yard individual medley.
Several other Dukes earned individual wins over Loyola in the meet. Sophomore Lisa Colapietro (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) was third overall in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.26 and second in the 200 breast in 2:27.27. Freshman Lauren Broussard (La Place, La./Mount Carmel Academy) was fourth in the 200 butterfly in 2:12.71. Senior Meghan Heil (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) was fifth in the 100 free in 54.64 seconds. Sophomore Morgan McCarthy (New Castle, Del./St. Mark's) was second in the 200 backstroke in 2:09.50. Sophomore Emily Koneiczny (West Springfield, Mass./Granby) was third in the 500 free
