CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Jan. 25, 2009 -- The James Madison University men's tennis team continued its sluggish start to the spring schedule with a 7-0 defeat at the hands of the 20th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels. Madison fell to 0-4 with the loss while the UNC improved to 2-0.
The Dukes did pick up a point in doubles play as sophomores Matt King (Lorton, Va./James W. Robinson) and Yaroslav Voznenko (Kherson, Ukraine/Khescon Tech Lyceum) combined for a 9-8 (6) victory over Luke Mojica and Alex Rafiee. UNC was able to claim the doubles point however, after they picked up victories in the #1 and #2 matches.
In singles play, King was the only Duke to win a set as he took Mojica into the third set before bowing out.
