HARRISONBURG, Va., Nov. 3, 2009 ? James Madison freshman Danielle Erb (Tampa, Fla./Plant) recorded two double-doubles in a 2-0 week to earn Colonial Athletic Association Volleyball Rookie of the Week honors.
In a standout first season with the Dukes, Erb had one of her more impressive performances with 3.78 kills and 2.78 digs per set while hitting .338 in wins over Georgia State (3-2) and UNC Wilmington (3-1). She had a double-double in each match to run her team-leading total for the season to nine.
In Friday's win over GSU, Erb matched her career high with 18 kills to go with 12 digs and a .300 hitting percentage. In Saturday's four-set win, she had 16 kills (4.00 per set) with .393 hitting and 13 digs. For the week, she also had two aces, two blocks, and one assist.
For the season, Erb continues to rank as the only freshman in the top 10 in the league in kills with 3.07 per set and points with 3.48 per set. In conference matches, she ranks fifth in the league with 3.21 kills and ninth with 3.46 points per set.
Erb was also named CAA Rookie of the Week Sept. 8 and Sept. 14. She shared the Nov. 2 honor with VCU's Michala Kvapilova, who earned her fourth honor of the season.
JMU will be on the road this weekend to face VCU on Friday night at 7 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. match Saturday at William and Mary.
