HARRISONBURG, Va., May 14, 2009 ? Catcher Chris Henderson drove in five runs on three hits as George Mason defeated James Madison 10-6 in the opener of a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series on Thursday afternoon at Long Field/Mauck Stadium.

GMU, ranked 27^th nationally by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, improved the nation's best winning percentage with a 39-9 record and a 18-4 mark in the CAA. JMU fell to 29-23 overall and 11-10 in the league after its third straight conference defeat.

Kevin Crum scattered six hits and five walks over six innings, allowing only a three-run home run, to earn the victory. He improved to 8-3 on the season while recording five strikeouts.

JMU tallied nine hits and received 10 free bases in the form of nine walks and a hit batter. However, the Dukes stranded nine runners on the bases, hit into two double plays, and had two runners caught stealing.

Redshirt sophomore Trevor Knight (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's-Belfield) started a series opener for the first time this season and took the loss to fall to 3-2. He allowed eight runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Henderson provided most of the offense the Patriots needed with a two-run homer, a two-run single, a RBI groundout, another single, and a walk to drive in five runs.
