Cross Country's Colombo Finishes Tenth at Tribe Open

WILLIAMSBURG, Va., Oct. 16, 2010 - James Madison senior Lynne Colombo (Marlborough, Conn./RHAM) finished tenth out of 43 runners at the William and Mary Tribe Open at Eastern State Hospital on Saturday.
Colombo completed the six-kilometer course in 23:29, just 1:19 off William and Mary's Avery Mattingly, who won the event with a time of 22:10. Mattingly finished 32 seconds before any other competitor.
Also for the Dukes, senior Mariah Hagadone (Mt. Solon, Va./Buffalo Gap) clocked a time of 23:40, good for 12th place and sophomore Michelle Savarese (Middletown, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) was 17th in 24:06.
Sophomores Mary Cerasa(Shrewsbury, N.J./Red Bank Regional) and Mikaela Davis (Elkton, Va./Spotswood) rounded out the Dukes with back-to-back finishes in 22nd and 23rd place with times of 24:41 and 24:42, respectively.
Next up for the Dukes is the Colonial Athletic Association Championship at UNC Wilmington on Saturday, Oct. 30 in Wilmington, N.C. The women's championship race is slated for a 10 a.m. start.
