WOMEN'S SOCCER EDGES WILLIAM AND MARY 1-0

WILLIAMSBURG, Va., Oct. 22, 2010 - The James Madison women's soccer team edged William and Mary 1-0 in Colonial Athletic Association Friday night.
The Dukes improved their overall record to 11-6-0 with their third straight win. JMU is now 7-2-0 in league play and remains in second place in the CAA.
William and Mary's record stands at 8-7-2 overall and 4-4-1 in CAA play.
JMU clinched a berth in the four-team CAA Tournament, which will be hosted Nov. 5 & 7 by Hofstra. The Pride wrapped up first place and the top seed in the tournament with a 4-3 overtime win over Georgia State Friday night.
The game's only goal came on an eight-yard shot by freshman Lauren Wilson (Coatesville, Pa./Downingtown) in the 58th minute. Senior Teresa Rynier (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley) got the assist on the score and increased her school career record to 47 assists.
Wilson, who has scored four goals in the Dukes' last two games, netted the game-winning goal for the second game in a row.
Redshirt senior goalkeeper Diane Wszalek (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) made seven saves to record her seventh shutout of the season. She increased her school career record to 23 solo shutouts and tied the JMU mark with her 29th career overall shutout. Wszalek shares that record with Stacy Bilodeau (1994-97) and Jessica Hussey (2002-05).
Wszalek now has 299 career saves and is just one save away from third place on JMU's all-time list. Bilodeau is currently in third with 300 saves.
W&M out-shot JMU 15-13. Tribe goalkeeper Grace Barnard finished with nine saves.
