WOMEN'S LACROSSE WINS 11-2 AT GEORGE WASHINGTON

WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 27, 2010 -- Seven James Madison players scored as the Dukes (2-0) downed George Washington (1-2) 11-2 in women's lacrosse Saturday afternoon.
After GW's Sarah Phillips scored the game's first goal 3:52 into the match, JMU tallied the next nine scores. The Dukes' first seven goals were scored by seven different individuals.
JMU led 5-1 at halftime and was up 9-1 with 5:06 to go before Phillips scored the Colonials' only other goal at the 4:04 mark.
The Dukes got two goals apiece from redshirt senior Kim Griffin (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford), sophomore Ariel Lane (Vero Beach, Fla./Vero Beach) and redshirt freshman Rebecca McLouth (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore).
Junior Caitlin Sullivan (Kennesaw, Ga./Harrison), sophomore Ashley Kimener (Oakton, Va./Oakton), redshirt freshman Casey Ancarrow (Jarrettsville, Md./John Carroll) and freshman Emily Biondi (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) each scored a goal for JMU.
JMU out-shot GW 31-8, and Dukes' senior goalkeeper Morgan Kelly (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) made four saves in just under 54 minutes of play. Redshirt freshman redshirt freshman Alisa Konishi (Littleton, Colo./J.K. Mullen)Alisa Konishi (Littleton, Colo./J.K. Mullen) finished out the match in goal and made one stop.
GW goalie Liz Hoffman made 13 saves.
JMU plays the second of five straight road games next Saturday, March 6, at Yale.
