ECAC Championship Results
HARRISONBURG, Va. - Senior Katie Gorman's (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) individual victory led the James Madison cross country team to the Eastern College Athletic Conference championship on Saturday morning in New York City. The Dukes placed three runners in the top 10, and all scoring runners finished in the top 25 of the 101-runner meet.
Gorman ran the Van Cortlandt Park course in 17:50.5 to claim the individual ECAC title. Last year's winner, senior Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill), crossed the line seven seconds later to take second place.
In her first ECAC appearance, freshman Jenna Flickinger (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) took ninth place when she completed the race in 18:13.2. Sophomore Kristen Landry (Boonton Township, N.J./Mountain Lakes) placed 19th in the meet with a time of 18:35.6, and sophomore Kelsey Langton (Hamilton Square, N.J./Notre Dame H.S.) rounded out the scoring for JMU with a 25th-place finish in 18:44.3.
The Dukes finished with 54 points on the day, 40 points ahead of second place Columbia. Conference foe Delaware took eighth place out of 11 teams, ending with 153 points on the day.
The ECAC championship meet wraps up the cross country slate for 2012. JMU now looks to the indoor track & field season beginning in January.
