BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The James Madison men's soccer team closed the non-conference portion of its schedule on Tuesday night with a 2-1 loss at Lehigh at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
Scoring chances were abundant, with Lehigh (8-5-1, 2-3 Patriot) holding a 20-11 lead in shots and a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal. Redshirt junior goalkeeper
Kyle Morton was made a season-high eight saves for the Dukes (3-8-4, 2-2-2 CAA) in the losing effort.
With the game tied in the 72nd minute, Doyle Tuvesson received a pass in the center of the 18-yard mark and fired a shot into the bottom left corner of the net to give the Mountain Hawks a 2-1 lead.
The goal came just 93 seconds after redshirt junior defender
Rhys Howard scored his first career goal to tie the game at one with his 71st-minute tally. Redshirt sophomore
Toby Appleton dribbled to the top of the box and found Howard in space who shot it past the diving goalkeeper.
Lehigh opened the scoring in the 43rd minute on Alex Greene's fourth goal of the season on a shot from distance.
The Dukes return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 28 when they travel to Newark, Del., for a 7 p.m. matchup against Colonial Athletic Association foe Delaware.

Austin Pelto made his first career start after appearing in five games as a substitute this season. The Fairfax, Va., native played all 90 minutes in tonight's match against Lehigh.

WHAT IT MEANSWith JMU and six other teams in the Colonial Athletic Association playing non-conference games in the midweek slate, the Dukes will remain in sixth place in the conference standings, despite the loss.
LOOKING FORWARDIn the all-time head-to-head series, the Dukes hold a 13-4-4 advantage over the Blue Hens. The series, which began in 1994, began with six straight wins for JMU and has recently paid dividends for the Dukes with two wins during the 2014 season.
