BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The James Madison men's soccer team closed the non-conference portion of its schedule on Tuesday night with a 2-1 loss at Lehigh at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
Scoring chances were abundant, with Lehigh (8-5-1, 2-3 Patriot) holding a 20-11 lead in shots and a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Kyle Morton was made a season-high eight saves for the Dukes (3-8-4, 2-2-2 CAA) in the losing effort.
With the game tied in the 72nd minute, Doyle Tuvesson received a pass in the center of the 18-yard mark and fired a shot into the bottom left corner of the net to give the Mountain Hawks a 2-1 lead.
The goal came just 93 seconds after redshirt junior defender Rhys Howard scored his first career goal to tie the game at one with his 71st-minute tally. Redshirt sophomore Toby Appleton dribbled to the top of the box and found Howard in space who shot it past the diving goalkeeper.
Lehigh opened the scoring in the 43rd minute on Alex Greene's fourth goal of the season on a shot from distance.
The Dukes return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 28 when they travel to Newark, Del., for a 7 p.m. matchup against Colonial Athletic Association foe Delaware.
