No. 5 Dukes Open Two-Game Road Trip Saturday at Towson

HARRISONBURG, Va. - No. 5 James Madison hits the road for the second time this season, first during conference play, as it takes on Towson on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 3 p.m. The game will be televised on Comcast SportsNet and can be heard on the JMU/nTelos Wireless Sports Network, beginning at 2 p.m. The 2015 JMU football season is presented by CarMax.
This is the 27th meeting between the two teams in a series dating back to 1976. The Dukes lead the series 19-6-1, which includes a 7-5-1 record in games played at Towson. They have also won nine of the last 10 against the Tigers. JMU scored its most points ever in a CAA game in a 62-7 triumph over Towson on Oct. 11, 2014. The Dukes produced 553 yards of total offense and limited TU to only 167 yards while creating four turnovers. Vad Lee passed for 255 yards and three touchdowns while John Miller rushed for 74 yards and a career-high three touchdowns.

JMU is off to a 5-0 start for the first time in program history following its 38-20 win over Stony Brook last weekend. Prior to the win, the Dukes had only started 4-0 twice (the other coming in 1978).
LEADING THE NATION
JMU leads FCS in four offensive categories, including scoring (47.8), total offense (640.8), third-down conversions (56.3%) and first downs (164). The Dukes are also second in rushing offense (343.8).
Individually, Khalid Abdullah leads the nation with eight rushing touchdowns and is ninth in scoring (9.6) while Cardon Johnson is seventh with six rushing scores. Vad Lee ranks second in total offense (402.8) and point responsibility (102), fourth in yards per carry (7.9), eighth in rush yards per game (118.8) and ninth in passing touchdowns (12). Three players rank third in FCS on the defensive side of the ball as Kyre Hawkins has two fumble recoveries, Taylor Reynolds averages 2.2 pass breakups per game and Andrew Ankrah averages 1.3 sacks per outing.

Linebacker Gage Steele turned in a career performance to be named CAA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Steele tallied 18 total tackles, tying his single-game best set in 2013. He also had 1.5 tackles for loss in the win. Steele, who is the third Duke to land a Defensive Player of the Week honor, leads the CAA with 11.0 tackles per game this season.
DUKES RANK FIFTH IN BOTH POLLS
JMU has risen to a No. 5 ranking in both the STATS FCS Top 25 and the FCS Coaches Poll following JMU's 38-20 win over Stony Brook. The Dukes are receiving eight first-place votes in the STATS media poll. JMU has won 12 straight regular-season games, a program record.

The No. 6 James Madison football team tallied more than 500 yards of total offense for the fifth consecutive game on Saturday, as the Dukes bested Colonial Athletic Association foe Stony Brook, 38-20, on a rainy afternoon at Bridgeforth Stadium/Zane Showker Field. With the win, JMU moved to 5-0 (2-0 CAA) for the first time in its 44-year program history, while the Seawolves fell to 2-2 (1-2 CAA) with the loss.
In all, the Dukes piled up 519 yards of total offense, including 294 on the ground, and saw three different players rush for more than 80 yards on the day. Junior running back Khalid Abdullah led the way, carrying the ball 17 times for 114 yards to record his third 100-yard rushing effort of the year. Abdullah also tacked on a pair of touchdowns, giving him a Football Championship Subdivision-best eight on the season.

The Tigers enter this weekend's CAA game with a 2-2 record and 0-1 mark in conference play following a 17-13 loss at Elon back on Sept. 26. TU was on a bye last week
In the loss at Elon, quarterback Connor Frazier rushed for 132 yards, a school rushing record by a quarterback, but four turnovers by the Tigers, three by way of fumbles, allowed the Phoenix to score 17 unanswered points and rally for the win.
Towson averages 24.2 points per game while conceding 22.8 to its foes. The Tigers rank 13th in FCS in rushing defense (106.3) and 18th in total defense (309.3). Offensively, TU is 26th on third downs (44.1%) and 27th in rushing offense (204.0).
Darius Victor is one of the top rushers in the CAA with six touchdowns this season. He is also 12th in FCS with 114.0 yards per game and just outside the top 25 with 6.0 yards per rush. Connor Frazier has passed for 775 yards with three touchdowns and has two more scores on the ground to go with his 195 rushing yards. Jacquille Veii leads the receiving core with 273 yards and 14.4 yards per reception.
