HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison women's basketball (2-0) defeated Morgan State (1-1) 92-31 Tuesday night at the JMU Convocation Center, the third largest margin-of-victory all time (61 points). JMU has won back-to-back games by 50 or more points for the first time in program history.

The Dukes had an efficient shooting night, going 36-of-57 (63.2 percent) from the floor, including 11-of-21 (52.4 percent) from 3-point range.

Senior guard Ashley Perez was 9-of-11 from the field, hitting six of her seven 3-point attempts for a career-high 24 points. The Dukes started the game on a 13-0 run, led by Perez going 3-of-3 from beyond the arc in the first four minutes.

Junior forward Da'Lishia Griffin recorded her second career double-double, tallying 14 points and 11 rebounds. She also set a career high for 3-point field goals made, knocking down two of her three shots from distance.

JMU had a stellar defensive effort, holding the Bears to 18.3 percent shooting and 11 made field goals. The defense fed the fast-paced offense, with the Dukes scoring 31 points off turnovers and 14 points on fast breaks.

The Dukes were excellent in moving the ball on offense, with assists on 26 of the 36 made field goals. Senior point guard Angela Mickens was the catalyst for JMU, dishing 12 assists in addition to 12 points scored, marking the third points-assists double-double of her career.

DOUBLE-DIGIT DUKES
JMU had five scorers in double figures Tuesday. Perez (24), Griffin (14), Mickens (12), redshirt senior guard Jazmon Gwathmey and freshman center Savannah Felgemacher (10) all stuffed the stat sheet for the Dukes. It marked the first game since last year's regular-season finale (W, 107-58, vs. College of Charleston) that five Dukes scored in double digits.

STARTING ON THE RIGHT FOOT
For the second consecutive game, JMU has scored in double-digits before their opponents have gotten on the board. The Dukes started on a 13-0 run against Morgan State Tuesday and a 16-0 run against Longwood Sunday.

STINGY DEFENSE
Between the last three quarters against Longwood and the first three quarters against Morgan State, JMU went six consecutive periods allowing fewer than 10 points. The Dukes also went a combined 16:39 without allowing an opponent to score a field goal, starting at the 00:52 mark of the third period vs. Longwood and ending at the 4:21 mark of the first period vs. Morgan State.

SPREADING THE LOVE
All 11 JMU players saw minutes Tuesday, with nine of them scoring at least one point. Five different Dukes made a 3-point field goal and all five freshmen saw playing time.
