ELON, N.C. - Sophomore center fielder
Ky Parrott went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs, but the James Madison baseball team dropped a 17-3 decision at Elon on Saturday afternoon in the second game of a Colonial Athletic Association weekend series.

The Dukes tallied nine hits on the day, but fell to 9-10 (0-2 CAA) on the season with the loss, while Elon scored in five different innings, tallying six in two separate frames, to move to 10-11 (2-0 CAA) with the win.

Kyle McPherson had the Dukes' only other extra-base hit on the day, going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, while senior right fielder
Kevin Husum was 2-for-3 on the afternoon. Junior left fielder
Tyler Carroll, sophomore first baseman
Brett Johnson and redshirt freshman pinch hitter
Brian Lawler also notched hits in the loss.

After Elon opened the scoring with an RBI single in the bottom of the first, the Dukes tied things at 1-1 in the top of the second. Parrott led off the inning with a double to left-center, then moved to third on McPherson's sacrifice bunt and scored on an RBI groundout from Johnson.

The Phoenix responded, however, scoring the next 10 runs of the game. Elon scored six in the fourth inning, all with two outs, before tacking on three in the fifth inning and another in the sixth.

JMU scored a pair in the eighth, when freshman pinch hitter
Bradley McKay led off the inning with a single and Parrott drove him in with another single. McPherson then doubled down the left field line and Parrott scored on an error by the left fielder.

Elon answered in the bottom half of the frame, however, plating six runs on four hits and four walks to seal things at 17-3.

Junior Michael Elefante went the distance on the mound for Elon, moving to 2-0 on the year after surrendering just two earned runs and striking out six. Freshman left-hander
Eric Yankey started for JMU, yielding three earned runs in 3.2 innings while dropping to 1-1 in 2015.

JMU will wrap up its series at Elon on Sunday afternoon, with first pitch slated for 1:30 p.m.
